The NCYC is the largest Catholic youth gathering in the U.S., with up to 25,000 young people and adult chaperones attending from all over the country.
NCYC 2009 will feature:
Christian musicians, bands and concerts each day and evening
Nationally recognized speakers and performers offering keynotes and concurrent sessions covering topics for catholic youth and adults
Powerful prayer and liturgy experiences by and for young people
a HUGE festival village inside the Convention Center that you must see to believe. Visit the vocations center, check out a Catholic college or university, surf the internet, participate in games, eat and hang out, listen to different musicians, review the latest publisher's material on youth ministry/youth culture and much more!!
St. Mary's youth programs, Dangerous Minds and Life Teen, are combining efforts to plan a trip to NCYC 2009. This trip will be open to all St. Mary's (and surrounding parishes) students in grades 9 - 12 (which includes this year's 8th graders). Every student attending will be responsible for helping with fundraising to make this trip possible. Estimated cost will be $400 per person. We will leave from West Point and ride a bus together to Kansas City. The Archdiocese of Omaha is making hotel arrangements for us in Kansas City about 15 miles from the convention center. Our bus will transport us to and from the convention center each day.
This trip will be a pilgrimage of faith. No profanity, abusive language or behavior, drugs, alcohol or poor attitudes will be permitted at any time or place during this trip.
Each participant should register by printing this information and submitting the completed registration form to Lisa Hunke, Youth Minister, St. Mary's, along with a $125 deposit by March 25, 2009. Sorry, no late registrations will be accepted. A second payment of $195 is due May 29, 2009. The remaining payment is due August 18, 2009.
A meeting to go over details for the trip and for fundraising projects will be held on Sunday, January 18, at St. Joe's (in the basement) immediately following Life Night. All students interested in participating in NCYC should attend this meeting.
