St. Mary's middle school youth ministry is called Edge. The program originated with Life Teen, in Mesa, Arizona.
St. Mary's Edge program is for 6th, 7th, & 8th graders of the parish and consists of: Life Teen Mass, Edge Nights, service projects, social events, and retreats.
The Life Teen Mass is held every Sunday at 5:00 pm at St. Marys. Seats are reserved for the junior high youth to sit together during Mass. Edge students are asked to help with Mass as Altar Servers, lectors, ushers, gift bearers and greeters.
Twice a month, on the 1st and 3rd Sundays, Edge students are invited to the gym immediately after the Life Teen Mass for Edge Nights. Here they are invited to enjoy a good meal and then our Life Night begins. Life Nights last from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.
Several social events are planned throughout the year which may include skating parties, bowling parties, dances, game nights, etc.
At least one weekend retreat is held every school year for Edge students. a retreat provides an opportunity for Edge students to get away for the weekend and have some fun as they grow closer to each other and most importantly, closer to Christ.
Edge students also participate in several community service projects during the year. They assist at St Mary's Family Fun Day by working the childrens game booths. They also assist with cemetery clean up and collecting food for the local food bank. |
